We want you to seek movement that is enjoyable, pain-free and makes you feel good.
Tailored Motivation and Guidance
Like mental wellness, our physical needs are very diverse. Some may find moving around in everyday life causes physical pain and interferes with feeling better. Others may be moving well but need or want specialized advice for movement. Or perhaps, like many, motivation is a great obstacle.
Wherever you’re starting from, our Movement and Exercise Specialists will motivate and guide you through personalized sessions designed uniquely for you and your goals.
Our sessions are offered in 30-minute, 45-minute, 60-minute, or six 10-minute session packages. The six 10-minute sessions are a unique and affordable option that allows you to have regular check-ins/accountability meetings with your exercise and movement specialist. You can use that time however is most productive for you, and you can vary your session length as needed on an ongoing basis. We want you to seek movement that is enjoyable, pain-free and makes you feel good.

Start Wherever You Are
An Approachable Program Designed for You
The first step in creating a movement guide is to understand your current abilities and goals. We do this through an assessment that focuses on functional movements used for activities of daily living, such as pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and reaching. This assessment includes but is not limited to the evaluation of
- Upper body strength
- Lower body functional performance
- Mobility
- Balance & core strength
- Postural alignment
- Frailty
Once we’ve collected this information, we develop a guide designed specifically for you, and then it’s time to get moving.
Movement for Life
Building up the Basics
The ability to move well and without pain begins with developing a solid foundation. Our Movement and Exercise Specialists help by focusing on small changes to your mobility that will have a big impact on your life.
Step 1: Foundational Movement
Based on the results of your assessment, we will collaboratively develop a movement guide tailored to your needs. It will include simple, effective movements that can be performed with minimal equipment and are designed to improve your posture, ankle strength, gait, balance, coordination, and range of motion.
In this phase, each 10-minute session focuses on a specific joint, while the 30-minute session focuses on several joints. Throughout these sessions, our main goal is to provide comprehensive guidance on how to execute these exercises safely with proper form and technique while supporting your progression and ensuring you stay on track.
Step 2: Functional Movement
Building upon the strength and coordination developed in the Foundational Movements, your personalized blueprint will increase to 45-minute sessions and gradually incorporate a wider variety of exercises, including body weight, resistance training, and functional movements used for activities of daily living.
While keeping you motivated and excited about your movement journey, this progression will continue to challenge your stability and coordination and is designed to:
- Improve ankle mobility
- Improve knee stability
- Improve posture
- Enhance balance and strengthen the lower and upper body muscles
- Improve core stability, coordination, and balance
- Improve lateral strength and stability
- Increase flexibility
- Improve transitioning from:
- Stand to seat
- Seat to stand
- Stand to floor
- Floor to stand
Active for Life
A different approach to personal training
These sessions will continue with movement and physical activity, building on the solid base of foundational and functional movements we work on in Movement for Life. While we can work towards a variety of fitness goals, Active for Life is primarily focused on improving your quality of life by targeting your overall fitness level through cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.
We want you to walk away feeling confident that you are strong, that movement feels good, and that your body is moving better.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this program different than regular Personal Training?
This program is different than other Personal Training programs because it aims to help you seek movement that is enjoyable to you, rather than a set training regime of exercises, repetitions, or sets. It also aims to help you find pain-free movement, and improve range of motion, rather than the “no pain, no gain” mentality common in fitness culture.
What kind of goals do you set in your programs?
Goals are individualized based on the client’s physical abilities and desires. We won’t ask you to set unrealistic goals or goals that don’t align with you and your lifestyle. Instead, we aim to empower you to set meaningful goals that will impact your quality of movement and life.
Because of the customized nature of our program, goals may be structured using the SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound) format like walking for 20min a day [in 10 min increments – in the morning and after dinner] 4 days a week. Or they may be something like moving with less pain, which we can measure through a variety of indicators.
What kind of outside commitment do I have to make to see real change?
This all depends on what your goal is, your body’s individualized response to our movement plan, and how much time you’re willing, interested, and able to contribute.
Why are foundational movements so important?
Foundational movements are important for building functional strength, reducing the risk of injury, improving joint mobility and range of motion, and increasing longevity
